The National Afforestation Campaign
About the Campaign
Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Consultative Council for the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, the national tree planting campaign, titled “Forever Green,” was launched in October 2021. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for Environment, seeks to advance the Kingdom’s strategies for expanding green areas.
The campaign facilitates cooperation between the public and private sectors to implement planned projects, sustain the agricultural sector, and enhance the Kingdom’s aesthetic appeal, while honoring its historical agricultural legacy. The focus is on supporting agricultural projects dedicated to planting trees along streets and in various public areas across the four governorates. The initiative aims to meet Bahrain’s environmental goals, support global efforts, and address national priorities related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change impacts, while also achieving the campaign’s beautification objectives.
