Manama, Dec. 21 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) received 2,000 seedlings from stc Bahrain as a contribution by the world-class digital enabler to the Forever Green campaign.
The contribution also boosts Bahrain’s environmental commitment to achieving climate goals by reaching zero carbon neutrality by 2060.
This generous contribution from stc Bahrain is an effective response to the Forever Green national campaign launched under the generous patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, Chairperson of NIAD Advisory Council.
It is also within stc Bahrain’s “Trees for Life” campaign to enhance national action to enhance the environment in Bahrain by supporting increasing green areas, protecting the environment and reducing the impact of gaseous emissions.
The generous contribution by stc included a large number of trees that add an aesthetic splendour and natural beauty to various areas across Bahrain’s governorates and achieve the environmental and climatic goals of the plan drawn up by NIAD for the first phase of the Forever Green campaign.
The ceremony to plant trees at Al Muntalaq Women’s Society in Jaww in the Southern Governorate was attended by stc Chief of Government Affairs Shaikh Zeyad bin Faisal Al Khalifa, NIAD Secretary-General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Head of Social Programs at the Southern Governorate Mohammed Al Faw, President of Al Muntalaq society Lulwa Al Rumaihi, head of public relations at stc Jamal Al Sayyed, and senior analyst at stc Sara Abdulghaffar.
Shaikh Zeyad stressed the importance of supporting national initiatives aimed at achieving common environmental goals.
“We at stc Bahrain are proud and proud to contribute to supporting all national initiatives and campaigns that are in the general national interest and achieve the environmental goals, in support of the great efforts made by the Kingdom to limit desertification and reduce temperatures and the impact of environmental pollution,” he said.
“This includes cooperation between the two national campaigns, the ‘Forever Green’ launched by NIAD and the “Trees for Life” campaign launched by stc Bahrain, to achieve their common goals by planting trees and shrubs in various regions of the Kingdom and expanding green spaces to reach a more sustainable environment within our social responsibility towards Bahrain.”
Shaikha Maram expressed pride in the cooperation.
“Our cooperation is consistent with the national goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain and achieves the lofty directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the continuous attention of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister,” she said.
“It contributes to supporting government efforts towards achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2060 by combining the endeavors of the various public, private and civil sectors under our common national responsibility towards Bahrain to maintain ecological balance and reduce climate repercussions on the Kingdom of Bahrain and the world.”
stc Bahrain launched the “Trees for Life” campaign in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Environment and under the supervision of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
The campaign was part of the efforts and strategies of the Council and the Ministry within the Council’s policies and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
