Manama, Dec. 23 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) announced that the The Oil & Gas Holding Company has contributed to support the national campaign “Forever Green”, to plant Street 41 in the Educational area in the Southern Governorate.
The initiative aims at planting more than 5050 trees that work to achieve environmental goals and contribute to addressing the effects of climate change within the plan of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, on an area of 3175 square meters.
The generous support from the company included a large and diverse number of trees that suit the climatic nature that characterizes the Kingdom, and to help the oxygenation process produced by these trees to reduce environmental pollutants, and to be an enhanced natural environment for wildlife.
This contribution comes in line with Bahrain’s national goals to achieve the lofty directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the continued interest of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister by supporting the government’s efforts towards achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2060.
The campaign came in implementation of the vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King, NIAD Chairperson of the Advisory Council, and the aspirations of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Directors The Oil and Gas Holding Company to achieve a continuous renaissance of the agricultural sector and its development.
The trees were planted in the presence of NIAD Secretary-General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Assem Abdullatif, the General Manager of the Southern Governorate, and Nouf AlSuwaidi, Senior Director of Human Resources at the company.
