Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister, announced that the 11th edition of the Bahraini Farmers’ Market will be launched on December 23 at the Budaiya Botanical Garden.
Bahraini farmers, brands and craftsmen, will participate in the market, which coincides with the country’s National holidays.
Al Mubarak affirmed that holding the Farmers’ Market follows His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to invest in the enhancement of food security.
He added that HM the King’s vision for food security is thoroughly followed up by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop agricultural development in the Kingdom and encourage the private sector to invest in it, according to the Government Plan and National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).
The minister commended the partnership with NIAD, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women and NIAD Advisory Council’s Chairperson, in inaugurating the 11th edition of the Bahraini Farmers’ Market.
He also praised STC Bahrain’s support for the market, representing the private sector.
NIAD Secretary-General, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa said that the market is supported by the follow up from HRH Princess Sabeeka and it aims to support local agricultural production by providing a marketing platform that makes it easier for farmers to reach thousands of visitors.
She added that the market helps to encourage many farmers to diversify their products and introduce new types of products required locally.
