The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in cooperation with the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), received a generous fund from Gulf International Bank (GIB) to support the national afforestation campaign “Forever Green”.
This contribution comes to strengthen partnership between the public and private sectors in the completion of environmental projects in the various governorates and cities of the Kingdom.
This support will also contribute to curb the effects of climate change, will preserve the Kingdom’s agriculture, and will support local and international efforts to reach zero carbon neutrality by 2060.
The afforestation support by GIB included the plantation of 135 trees, Cassia Vistula and Poinsiana at Riffa Walkway, as well as planting 15 Neem trees and Hibiscus teleasisus at the public transport station in the Ma’ameer area.
The Riffa Walkway planting ceremony was held in the presence of NIAD Secretary-General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa.
The afforestation campaign also included the plantation of 8 Neem trees at the public transport station in Nuwaidrat.
