One Hundred and fifteen Al Ghaf seedlings have been planted by the national afforestation campaign (Forever Green) along Alhunayniyah hill, supported by SICO Bank.
This is SICO’s third contribution to Forever Green.
The campaign is organised by the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for Environment.
Al Ghaf trees are associated with the cultural and environmental heritage of Bahrain. They have been selected by by specialists from the Southern Municipality chose Al Ghaf trees for its benefits in combatting desertification, reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality and providing shade.
The location in Alhunayniyah was chosen because it is a popular recreational area for children, youth and the elderly. Al Ghaf trees are suitable for the nature of its terrain.
