Manama, Nov.30 (BNA): In the Presence of Information Affairs Minister Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Alnoaimi, the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) has planted 140 trees and shrubs in the vicinity of the heritage village in Ras Hayyan in the Southern Governorate
The initiative was coordinated with the with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) as of the second phase of the national afforestation campaign (Green Forever), support by Zain Bahrain.
Also present were Information Affairs Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Baher, Zain Bahrain Chief Executive Officer for Communication and Investor Relations Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, NIAD Secretary General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa and other officials.
In a statement, Dr. Alnoaimi stressed the ministry’s commitement to supporting national efforts to conserving Bahraini agricultural heritage as part of the national strategy to protect the environment. “Bahrain has a rich agricultural heritage and a variety of trees which are engraved in national memory”, he said, noting that Heritage Village constitutes an appropriate site to contribute to conserve these rare species.
He stressed the importance of community partnership and voluntary efforts to support the national drive to protect the environment and expand the agricultural land.
Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa stressed his Zain Bahrain’s commitment to supporting the national afforestation campaign (Green Forever), as part of environmental responsibility strategy.
The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) praised the initiative of Zain Bahrain. It also commended the constructive cooperation of the Ministry of Information Affairs, in line with the aspirations of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and NIAD Advisory Council President.
It is also in line with Bahrain’ senvironmental commitment to reach zero neutrality by 2060, which was announced by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
