The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in partnership with the Ministry of Municipalities’ Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for the Environment, announced that the Bahrain Airport Services company (BAS) will contribute to the National Afforestation Campaign, “Forever Green”, by planting 79 neem trees along 1,031 linear metres along the Hatim Al Taie Avenue in the Muharraq Governorate.
This kind initiative of BAS is within the ongoing efforts of the National Afforestation Campaign to mobilise national efforts and coordinate with the four municipalities and private institutions to contribute to achieving the environmental goals of the Kingdom of reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.
The planting site was inaugurated in the presence of NIAD Secretary-General, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, BAS Board of Directors Chairman, Nabeel Khalid Kanoo, Chief Central Support Officer, Fahad Al-Qadhi, and Chief Human Capital Officer, Hana Abdulwahed.
A number of BAS employees also attended the ceremony to contribute to planting seedlings based on the national role that BAS adopts in supporting and strengthening the agricultural and environmental sector to achieve sustainable development goals.
On this occasion, NIAD Secretary-General expressed her gratitude to the Bahrain Airport Services Company for its great support, noting that it will enhance the efforts of the “Forever Green” campaign towards expanding the green area in the Kingdom and achieving the goals of sustainable development so that future generations can enjoy a healthier and greener environment.
She said: “All thanks and appreciation to the Bahrain Airport Services Company for their generous contribution. We look forward to more fruitful partnerships with all parties interested in such projects to achieve the national environmental plans.”
