Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, attended the inauguration ceremony of planting 100,000 trees in Bahrain.
The initiative was launched by the Saudi company Tanmiah Food in partnership with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, and Dr. Khaled Alabdulkader, CEO of the Saudi National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification on behalf of the Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
Minister Al Mubarak affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, quadrupling the numbers of mangrove trees, and doubling the number of trees in general in the Kingdom 2035.
He added that the Kingdom plans to increase the number of trees through projects and initiatives and the development of partnerships to enhance sustainable environmental security and adapt to climate change.
Al Mubarak praised Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting international efforts to preserve the environment, hailing its initiative to plant 100,000 trees in Bahrain as part of its commitment to supporting environmental sustainability in the region.
Dr. Bin Dainah affirmed that this initiative is part of the Bahraini-Saudi cooperation in the field of agriculture, environment and sustainable development and it aims for a more sustainable future.
He praised Saudi Arabia’s campaign to promote environmental sustainability and its Middle East Green Initiative.
Dr. Alabdulkader said that the Middle East Green Initiative aims to provide a greener and more sustainable future in the region, through coordination between Middle East countries to promote a prosperous ecosystem for all.
