The Bahrain Car Parks Company (Amakin) is supporting the planting of two sites in Sanad and Muharraq, the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), announced.
Amakin’s contribution is part of the third phase of the National Afforestation Campaign, Forever Green that aims to expand green spaces, improve landscaping and support national and international efforts to counter climate change and achieve zero neutrality.
Two hundreds seedlings of Hibiscus tiliaceus, Acacia glauca, and Ficus altissima will be planted in the National Charter Highway in Sanad in the Capital Governorate and 175 seedlings of Hibiscus tiliaceus will be planted in Street 65 in Muharraq Governorate.
A planting ceremony was held on National Charter Highway in the presence of Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, NIAD Secretary-General, Tariq Ali Aljowder, CEO of Amakin, and a number of company officials.
Aljowder said the contribution to Forever Green reflects Amakin’s commitment to community partnership in creating a sustainable environment, increasing green areas in the kingdom, reducing carbon emissions and increasing public awareness.
Forever Green aims to increase green areas in the Kingdom through coordination between the public and private sectors to implement the planned projects and contribute to mitigating the impact of climate change and reducing carbon emissions while enhancing air quality and shading public spaces and streets.
