The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) in cooperation with the Municipalities Affairs Ministry and the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) announced the National Afforestation Campaign (Forever Green) has received support from the American University (AUBH) in the Kingdom.
The support included many environmentally friendly trees, which are commensurate with the climatic nature that characterizes the Kingdom, as 350 seedlings of Prosopis trees were planted in Al-Muaskar area and 350 seedlings of Vachellia nilotica trees in Al-Muaskar avenue in the Southern Governorate.
These trees are distinguished by their ability to adapt to harsh environmental conditions, especially in desert areas, in addition to their contribution to increasing soil fertility and bearing the drought and excess soil salinity.
The afforestation inaugurated with the presence of NIAD Secretary General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, William Hurt, Chief Operating Officer at AUBH, and several Southern Municipality engineers and those interested in the agricultural sector.
This contribution reflects the patriotic spirit and sense of social responsibility of AUBH, confirming its support for government plans and national initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and achieving environmental sustainability.
