Manama, Oct. 23 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council (HEC), and Deputy Chairperson of its Board of Trustees, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Duaij Al Khalifa, today held a virtual meeting with the Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa.
Dr. Shaikha Rana lauded the inauguration of the national afforestation campaign, “Forever Green”, in line with the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of NIAD Consultative Council, affirming the keenness of HEC Secretariat-General to cooperate with NIAD and provide the necessary support for the implementation of the initiative aimed at increasing green spaces in Bahrain and achieving sustainable development goals.
Dr. Shaikha Rana said that higher education institutions will take part in the nationwide campaign, based on their role in community partnership, wishing the campaign every success.
Shaikha Maram reviewed the reasons for launching the “Forever Green” campaign, and HRH Princess Sabeeka’s vision on boosting the agricultural sector.
She indicated that 27 sites across the kingdom’s governorates have been selected to implement the campaign, in cooperation with the Municipalities’ Affairs Department at the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry and the Supreme Council for Environment.
